Designer Jonathan C. Nelson
I was asked in the winter of 2017 to design ideas for the entry sequence of a dome house my former photography teacher had built. I approached the design brief conceptually, and sketched out spatial concepts in Photoshop. The goal was to address the interstitial space between the living dome on the left, and the car parking dome on the right. By introducing a third element, I hoped to provide design concept that would associate the two structures together through the use of outdoor semi-private space.
I further developed the concept into a series of abstract renderings that provided specific massing and formal cues to one of the design concepts. These were shared with the client, who used them to discuss design and construction options she and her husband could undertake independently.
